Last year, while Cedric Jackson was leading the Cleveland State Vikings to the Horizon League championship and a first round win over Wake Forest in the NCAA tournament, Cavaliers GM Danny Ferry was watching.

Last night the Cleveland State Vikings played the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Phoenix in Cleveland at the Wolstein Center.  This time, after signing a 10-day contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers earlier in the day, Cedric Jacskon was watching.

And don’t think his old teammates didn’t come out with a little extra juice after hearing their old teammate was now new teammates with LeBron James.

Sanchez Excited for Sunday

Email Post Email Post

UPDATE: Phillip B. Wilson of Indystar.com reports that New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez says he isn’t nervous, but rather looking forward to the experience of competing for a Super Bowl berth. “It’s the coolest thing in the world to know everybody in the stadium is waiting for you to say, ‘Go,'" he said. Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan made light of his last instructions to his young quarterback, who after a rocky midseason has won six of the last seven starts. “Go have fun, let’s go, play the position, have fun,” Ryan said. “Just because every kid in the world dreams to be in this spot, don’t let it affect you.”

FANTASY IMPACT: Sanchez has descent numbers this postseason, but has not completed more than 12 passes in either of the Jets' playoff games. If the Indianapolis Colts stop the Jets rushing attack and get out to an early lead, Sanchez will have to prove that he can do more than just manage the game. In 19 games this season, Sanchez has yet to throw more than 40 passes in a game. This Sunday could be the first time as he faces Colts' QB Peyton Manning and the Colts' high-powered passing attack.

Shockey With Sore Knee

Email Post Email Post

UPDATE: According to ESPN.com, New Orleans Saints TE Jeremy Shockey missed practice Friday with a sore right knee. Shockey also did not participate in team drills the previous two days and couldn't make Friday's final full workout before Sunday's NFC Championship game against Minnesota.

FANTASY IMPACT: Shockey most likely missed practice to rest his sore knee and should be ready to play in Sunday's NFC championship game. If the knee becomes an issue during the game, expect Saints 'backup TE David Thomas' role to increase. Thomas had 35 catches for 356 yards and one touchdown during the regular season.

Harvin Misses 2nd Straight Practice

Email Post Email Post

UPDATE: According to StarTribune.com, Minnesota Vikings WR Percy Harvin, the NFL's offensive rookie of the year, missed a second consecutive day of practice Friday because of migraines and is one of five Vikings listed as questionable for Sunday's NFC Championship Game.

FANTASY IMPACT: Harvin's versatility was key to the Vikings 'offensive attack this season. He was Vikings' QB Brett Farve's best slot receiver and they also used him as a RB and in the wildcat formation. In a game that features two high-powered offenses with tons of weapons, the Vikings could struggle to score without their big play threat Percy Harvin. Expect Vikings' WR Benard Berrian, who is coming off an ankle injury, to step up if Harvin cannot go in Sunday's NFC Championship game.

Email Post Email Post

Update: According to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, Pittsburgh Steelers' QB Ben Roethlisberger did not get medical clearance to play in the Pro Bowl on Jan. 31 because his right shoulder has not completely recovered from the injury that occurred in the Steelers' 30-24 win against the Miami Dolphins on Jan. 3. McAllister Named Honorary Captain for Sunday

Email Post Email Post

Update: According to The Times-Picayune, New Orleans Saints' all-time leading rusher Deuce McAllister will serve as the team's honorary captain on Sunday when they host the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC Championship game. McAllister, 31, was placed on the team's reserve/retired list on Tuesday.

Fantasy Impact: McAllister, the first-round draft choice of the Saints in 2001. He played in 97 regular season games over eight seasons in New Orleans and is the franchise's record-holder for touchdowns scored with 55, rushing yards with 6,096, rushing attempts (1,429), rushing touchdowns with 49 and ranks eighth in receptions with 234. His 27 career 100-yard rushing games are the most in team history and he is the only Saints runner to gain 1,000 yards in a season four times, including two Pro Bowl seasons in 2002 and 2003.

Jenkins, Shockey Did Not Participate in Team Practice Today

Email Post Email Post

Update: Mike Triplett of The Times-Picayune reports that New Orleans Saints' TE Jeremy Shockey (knee) and CB Malcom Jenkins (hamstring) did not participate in the team portion of practice today. Shockey declined to discuss his knee injury, saying he got fined the last time he talked about his health. Saints' coach Sean Payton described it as "more of a knee bruise" and said he's been coming along this week.

Fantasy Impact: Shockey continued to play last week against Arizona after he suffered the injury, so it's likely he'll play this week.

Update: Mike Triplett of The Times-Picayune reports that the New Orleans Saints' WR Robert Meachem (ankle) and S Darren Sharper (knee) both returned to practice today, but on a limited basis. It was a little stiff at times. Tomorrow will really tell me where I'm at."
