I'm sick and tired of everyone saying they DESERVE to win because of Katrina. The better team deserves to win, not the one that won by horrible calls. The Saints played like thugs and the refs were probably scared of the mob. I don't think New Orleans deserves anything because of their disaster that could have been avoided had they had adequate flood protection and DIDN"T BUILD A CITY UNDER SEA LEVEL. Katrina and the NFL have NOTHING TO DO WITH EACH OTHER.

You’re right dude, there is no benefit to setting up a major sea port and metropolitan city on the coast line!!!! How stupid could they be!!! New York City, Seattle, Miami, LA, San Francisco, etc. included!!! They are all dumb cities!!!!

I suppose you think Minnesota is a dumb state too because they built a bridge over the Mississippi River and it collapsed during rush hour in 2008 from their stupidity. Or SF had that horrible earthquake coming to them because they are near a fault line.

Actually, his second to last pass for the Jets was an interception, his last pass was a completion to Leon Washington of the Jets for 5 yards. Otherwise right on.

There is no way that being dumb enough to set up your city on the coast line without proper protection from it derives the right to win the SuperBowl, or anything from that matter. I hate New Orleans. What a dumb city. The entire State of MN was behind the Vikings and a few hours after the loss the entire state of MN blacked out.

1. This Vikings got all the calls in the first half. Realize this about all refs: they’re job is impossible so naturally they will suck at it, only able to use make up calls to rectify their past mistakes in the game. Case in point: the pass interference call on the vikings in the 4th, or maybe OT, it was simply a makeup call for the pass interference call against the saints down the field early in the game…both should have been no calls.
2. The author of this article is a moronic sports fan. The Vikings offense out played the saints’ offense…sort of, and that’s it. They had 6 fumbles, which fortunately for the viks, only amounted to 3 turnovers. Add on their 3 int’s and you’re looking at 6 turnovers….who the hell wins a game with 6 turnovers…that is a terrible offense if you ask me. The saints defense completely outplayed the VIk’s defense. Although letting up more yards and similar points, they were on the field much longer, with greater productivity and takeaways.
3. Don’t be upset b/c you completely got caught up in the Vikings/Favre hype and couldn’t think for yourself that Farve/Childress are self-exploding time bombs.

I don't know about you guys, but i'm just put off that the refs made sure to keep the ball outta Brett's hands in O.T. I counted three bad calls in a row and i believe two of which were decided up in the booth. The football gods had nothing to do with the digital recordings those blind a-holes were watching. Just catch one of those mistakes and the vikings D would've gotten the stop they needed (like they did ALL SECOND HALF!!!).

I know it's a cop-out when people complain about the calls, but this might've been the worst officiating to end a game since the tuck rule. Also, no one seems to care so much when people trash the judges on American Idol (btw, i am proud to say i've never heard "pants on the ground" either).

What is the single most important stat in football: turnovers! As long as the Vikings have a star running back who fumbles at a rate of almost once per game, the Vikings won’t do shit.

You call yourself a football fan? Learn the damn sport.

Teams that put the ball on the ground rarely win. That’s the stat that tells this tale.

This is a great point. Still, the Saints’ offense did look in sync as we have come to expect. The Vikings were able to move the ball more effectively, they just continuously shot themselves in the foot.

Look, I was not trying to take anything away from the Saints. They deserved the W because winning the turnover margin is the most important stat in football. But Vikings players and fans are justified in feeling like they gave the game away. Whether you win because you dominate or win because the other team chokes, a win is a win. The Saints got some good fortune, but deserved the W.

Also, NO gave up 45 yards on 3 personal foul penalties. One of the PFs continued a dead drive for Minn; essentially giving them 7 more on the scoreboard. As a Giants fan I know a lot about the make it or break it world of penalty yards and the Saints could have won this in regulation without at least 1 of the PFs.

Short field = less ards on Off. 5 turnovers and you are not going to win a football game. Argument = Minn. was a more talented team but gave the game away to a less talented NO team. False. Either the Saints forced turnovers or Minn. gave it away, both cases point to a less talented Minn. team.
