Super Bowl 44: Will the Saints or Colts Cover The Spread?

Email Post Email Post

Here we are again, another Super Bowl.

Super Bowl 44 brings us the two last teams to be undefeated through the regular season.  There are no more wild card teams and no more teams that squeaked into the playoffs.

Without a doubt the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts were the two most dominating teams in the NFL in 2009.

So who has the advantage heading into Super Bowl 44? Will the Colts be able to win by six or more to cover the spread…or will New Orleans keep it close enough to have a chance to win in the end?

Spice up your fit life!

Zumba is taking the fitness world by storm – get in on the action!

There is a lot of buzz going around about Latin-influenced dance workouts. I first heard of such classes when I was a student at the University of Kansas. One of the classes was called Zumba.

The name Zumba is sassy and a bit mysterious. I didn’t really know what to expect; I was just hoping I would get my heart pumpin’ and burn it up.

What I actually got was so much more.

LeBron James Really Wants to Be a Knick?

Damn you SI.com. Damn you.

This morning I made my daily perusal of the “Truth and Rumors” headlines of SI.com’s FanNation section. After checking out a quick blurb about the Browns being in the market for a running back, and then another blurb about whether Amar’e Stoudemire and Shaq could coexist in Cleveland after their checkered experience together in Phoenix, I read something that made me stop dead in my tracks.

And I bet it’s a headline that would make any sports fan stop dead in their tracks.

“James wants to be a Knick.”

Aside from “will Brett Favre actually retire?” there has been no more talked about or rumored about decision than “will LeBron James stay in Cleveland?”

And if it is true – or even rumored believably – that he really wants to be a Knick, that sound you’ll hear is the entire city of Cleveland grasping for air, desperate to avoid suffocating on their own disappointment.

So…does LeBron James really want to be a Knick?

Pro Bowl Betting Preview and Pick

Email Post Email Post

The media attention for the NFL’s biggest game of the year has hit a torrid pace. With still over a week to go, everyone is fervently discussing the quarterback matchup, the x factors, and the Super Bowl betting line.

But before the big game takes place, there is the important matter of playing the Pro Bowl. For the first time in 30 years, it will not take place in tropical Honolulu, Hawaii.  Instead, the NFL’s All-Star game hits the mainland and serves as a preface for the Super Bowl.

While the 11 selections from the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints will not be taking part (including Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Darren Sharper, Reggie Wayne, and Dallas Clark,) the game will still be filled with talented and entertaining starts that look to put on an exciting show.

As Cavaliers Look on, CSU Beats YSU, and Looks to Roadtrip

Cavaliers Danny Green and Cedric Jackson sat courtside as CSU (10-12, 6-4) got a much needed win at home against Horizon League bottom feeder Youngstown State 77-69 on Saturday.

The win moved the Vikings to 6-4 in conference, and right into the thick of the Horizon League race for second place.

No use racing for first, that belongs to #18 Butler (10-o in conference), and the Bulldogs aren’t a team you want to see early in the tournament.

Rosenhaus nabs Goldson as client

Email Post Email Post

Update: Matt Maiocco of the Press Democrat is reporting on his Twitter page that 49ers free safety Dashon Goldson has hired Drew Rosenhaus as his agent.  Goldson makes the change to Rosenhaus after leaving former agent Peter Schaffer.

Fantasy Impact: Goldson had a solid year posting 95 tackles and grabbing four interceptions.  This is the final year of his deal, and it makes sense for him to now change to an agent known for getting the most for his clients in terms of dollars.

Chargers back Kaeding

Email Post Email Post

Update: NFL Fanhouse is reporting that San Diego Chargers wideout Vincent Jackson and head coach Norv Turner have come to the defense of kicker Nate Kaeding, who missed three field goals in the AFC divisional round loss to the Jets. "That was on all of us," Jackson said of the upset loss. Turner added: "I don't know see that it should be any different for Nate than it should be for me or the rest of the guys on our football team."

Fantasy Impact: Kaeding will be back with the Chargers next season, and it is nice to see Jackson and Turner speak out to support him.

Troy Smith interested in the Browns

Email Post Email Post

Update: Pro Football Talk is reporting that Ravens quarterback Troy Smith has made it known he would like to play for the Browns in 2010.

Fantasy Impact: Smith is a Cleveland native, and was a standout for Ohio State.  Mike Holmgren has let it be known that both Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn cannot co-exist in Cleveland but it would be a long shot for Holmgren to add Smith into the mix.

Bryant McKinnie kicked off Pro Bowl team

Email Post Email Post

Update: The Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting that Vikings tackle Bryant McKinnie has been kicked off the NFC Pro Bowl roster for missing two straight days of practice.

Fantasy Impact: McKinnie apparently missed practice at least once to go to a strip club, and it is not known if that is where he was for both absences.  What we do know is that this a total lack of respect for the game and the fans.  This will make the NFL think twice about having the Pro Bowl in Miami again.

Ravens hire Zorn

Email Post Email Post

Update: The Baltimore Sun is reporting that the Ravens have hired former Redskins head coach Jim Zorn to work as their new quarterbacks coach.

Fantasy Impact: Zorn was clearly not capable of being a head coach, and got his walking papers this offseason by the Redskins.  He will now work with Joe Flacco who will be heading into his third season as the Ravens starting quarterback.  Many believe Zorn was unable to help Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell fully reach his potential in the league, so it will be interesting to see what impact he can make on Flacco.

Whisenhunt supports Leinart

Email Post Email Post

Update: Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt showed a vote of confidence for Matt Leinart, the team's new starting quarterback.  Whisenhunt told ESPN, "What I think back to is the second half in the preseason when he threw for 300 yards against the Packers. Matt is not a rookie. He has been in this offense for three years."

Fantasy Impact: Leinart will get his chance to prove he was worthy of his first round selection, and that he can be a starter in this league.  He will have a number of weapons back on offense to help his case, but this surely a make it or break it season for Leinart.

Giants may release Bernard

Email Post Email Post

Update: According to the New York Daily News, the New York Giants are considering releasing recently signed Rocky Bernard in the offseason.  The Giants signed the defensive tackle last offseason, but he failed to be the impact player the team thought they were getting.

Fantasy Impact:  Bernard has three years left on his deal for $9.1 million, but none of which is guaranteed money, making it quite simple for the Giants to part ways with him.

Leinart to become starter

Email Post Email Post

Update: Former USC quarterback Matt Leinart's career turned on Friday upon teammate Kurt Warner's decision to retire. Leinart will now be thrust into the starting quarterback role with the Cardinals.

Fantasy Impact: Arizona has been linked to trade rumors involving Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, but as long as Andy Reid is in Philly we don't see him dealing No. 5.  Leinart is entering the 5th year of his pro career, and it will be make it or break it time for him.

Warner retires

Email Post Email Post

Update:  As expected, Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner announced his retirement on Friday, according to ESPN.com.

Fantasy Impact: Warner retires after 12 years, two MVP awards, and one Super Bowl ring.  He finishes with 208 career touchdowns, and now turns the reigns over to Matt Leinart, who couldn't handle the starting gig the first time around which opened the door for Warner in Arizona.

Ware to have surgery

Email Post Email Post

Update: According to the Dallas Morning News, DeMarcus Ware will undergo surgery to remove a bone spur after the Pro Bowl this Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: It is a minor surgery and he should recover quickly.  It will not prohibit him from offseason workouts.
