Shockey nearing return

Email Post Email Post

Update:  According to Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey (turf toe) is getting "real close" to a return.

Fantasy Impact: Shockey has sat the past two games, and has not found the endzone since Week 6.  The Saints have been exposed lately, and now look very fragile.

Troy Smith wants out

Email Post Email Post

Update: According to agent Ralph Cindrich's twitter page, Ravens quarterback Troy Smith would like to be traded in the offseason.

Fantasy Impact: Smith has made the team aware of his request, and that he is not happy sitting behind Joe Flacco.  Smith could potentially find another suitor but he isn't going to be a superstar athlete.

Burleson done for the year

Email Post Email Post

Update: The Seattle Times is reporting that Seahawks wideout Nate Burleson has already been ruled out for Week 17 against Tennessee.

Fantasy Impact: Burleson will now be missing his third straight game, and his season is over.  He did have a productive season even though it was a horrible year for the team.

Warren to sit in Week 17

Email Post Email Post

Update: The Boston Globe is reporting that New England Patriots defensive end Ty Warren is not expected to play in Week 17.

Fantasy Impact: Warren was visibiy bankged up in Week 16 and his performance showed it.  He is dealing with a bum ankle, and chances are the Pats are going to rest him and prepare him for the playoffs.

Austin’s thumb to be alright

Update: Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin's X-rays on his ailing left thumb came back negative, according to the Dallas Morning News. This is good news for the Cowboys offense

Fantasy Impact: Ausitin and the Cowboys are playing for the NFC East title next week against the Eagles, so don't expect Austin to miss any time. He might get some time off from practice this week, but bank on him playing Sunday.

Foster to see more time

Update: According to NFL writer Nick Scurfield's twitter page, Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak stated that Arian Foster and Ryan Moats will play more this weekend against New England.

Aaron Rodgers Above Average

Email Post Email Post

Update: Packers QB Aaron Rodgers threw 12/23 for 237 yards and a score.

Fantasy Impact: Rodgers has been a great fantasy QB this year and will likely be a top 5 fantasy QB in next year's draft.

Megatron Has Average Day

Email Post Email Post

Update: Lions WR Calvin Johnson had 7 catches for 96 yards on 12 targets and added 2 carries for 32 yards. Johnson also lost 2 fumbles, however.

Fantasy Impact: Calvin Johnson has really not lived up to his high APD as a top 4 receiver going into this year. He is extremely talented, however, and next year Matt Stafford will be back from injure with a year of NFL experience under his belt. Megatron seems like he could still be a top 10 WR in next year's draft.

Jabar Gaffney Gets 2 Scores

Email Post Email Post

Update: Broncos WR Jabar Gaffney had 7 catches for 69 yards and 2 scores on 9 targets.

Fantasy Impact: Gaffney has been what people thought he would be this year, and that is fantasy irrelevant. He is not really worth a look in most fantasy league drafts next year.

Kyle Orton Good

Email Post Email Post

Update: Broncos QB Kyle Orton threw 27/41 for 189 yards, 3 scores, and a pick.

Fantasy Impact: Orton had a surprisingly good year this year, but should not be drafted highly next year. One good year does not a fantasy star make.

Jacobs blames performance on injury

Email Post Email Post

Update: According to the Newark Star-Ledger, Giants running back Brandon Jacobs is blaming Sunday's performance on a knee injury. He blamed the fact that the team kept him off the field for an extended timeframe because of the shotgun formation. He had just six touches on the day.

Fantasy Impact: With the Giants out of the playoff picture, it is possible Jacobs will not even dress for Week 17.

Miles Austin Okay

Email Post Email Post

Update: Cowboys WR Miles Austin had 9 catches for 92 yards on 10 targets, but lost 13 yards on a reverse.

Fantasy Impact: Austin had a solid game, and really emerged this year possibly more than any other player. Austin could very easily be a top ten wideout in drafts next year.

Osi disgusted in New York

Email Post Email Post

Update: According to the Newark Star-Ledger, New York Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora believes he may have played his last game as a Giant on Sunday."What did I play, five snaps today?" Umenyiora said at his locker following the team's demoralizing loss to the Panthers. "I don't know what happened. I thought I was the problem. It's an unbelievable situation, man. Last game at Giants Stadium, probably as a Giant, just the way everything has unfolded has been unbelievable."

Fantasy Impact: Umenyiora showed his frustration after the game, and this could very well have been his last game for the Big Blue in New York.
