The excerpt that follows is, unquestionably, the line of the day today in sports writing. It might be the line of the week…the month…or perhaps even the year. But lest hyperbole get the best of me and defeat the genius of time and perspective, I’ll stick with simply calling it the line of the day.

Either way, it is equal parts perfect analogy and terrifically funny.

Would Mike Leach and his Torture Chambers of Doom be a Good Fit at Indiana?

With each passing day, and with each new detail that emerges, I find myself siding more and more with Mike Leach in the current Leach v James, Texas Tech, et al battle that is being waged between lawyers and in the media.

The video below, from NewsChannel 11 (in Lubbock, I believe), shows the now infamous “shed” and “electrical closet” where Adam James was sent because of his concussion.

Looks to me like there are not quite the dungeons of terror or torture chambers of doom that they were initially made out to be.

Joshua Cribbs and Joe Thomas Named to Pro Bowl

Congratulations are in order for the two players who clearly the best players on the Cleveland Browns roster, and have been so for three years running.

Joshua Cribbs, quite possible the most complete and dominant special teams player in the history of the NFL, and Joe Thomas, the Browns’ left tackle for the next decade, have both been named to the Pro Bowl, according to numerous reports.

Brady to Welker, 13 Times

Update: New England Patriots QB Tom Brady completed 23 of 26 passes and landed 4 touchdown throws as the Patriots crushed Jacksonville 35-7. WR Wes Welker hauled in 13, that's right, 13 of those 23 completions for 138 yards.

Fantasy Impact: Welker leads the league in receptions with 122 and is averaging 11 yards on each of those, scary numbers. unfortunately the wideout was unable to find the endzone.



3 TD’s For Randy Moss

Update: New England Patriots WR Randy Moss had a huge game catching 3 touchdown passes as the Pats beat Jacksonville 35-7.

Fantasy Impact: In the 2 games since being accused of quitting by Carolina Panthers players, Moss has caught 4 touchdowns.



J Gaffney Scores Twice in Loss

Update: Denver Broncos WR Jabar Gaffney had 2 touchdowns in the teams hard fought loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Impact: With Eddie Royal out and the defense paying attention to Brandon Marshall, Gaffney took advantage reeling in his first 2 TD's of the year.



McNabb Tosses Three in Win

Update: Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb threw for 322 yards and three touchdown's as his Eagles held on for a 30-27 win over the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Impact: McNabb's great arm helped the Eagles get their 6th straight in a tough game against Denver, he also scrambled for 27 yards on a 3rd and 25 to keep a fourth quarter drive alive.



Jets D Punishes Indy Replacements

Update: The New York Jets ended the Indianapolis Colts perfect season, beating them 29-15 on Sunday. The Colts who were up 9-3 at half, pulled the majority of its star players for the second half and watched as the Jets returned a 106 yard kickoff for a TD, returned a fumble for a TD and took the game over for a 29-15 win. They also blocked a PAT and stuffed a 2 point conversion.

Fantasy Impact: The Jets Defense has been a huge part of the teams success this season and that was on display on Sunday. Indianapolis also got a look at what their team would be like without Manning, Addai and company.



Woodley Dominant in Steelers Win

Update: Pittsburgh Steelers OLB LaMarr Woodley was crucial to the Steelers hard fought win over Baltimore on Sunday. Woodley had 10 tackles, a sack on 3rd down and another sack which forced a fumble late in the fourth quarter.

Fantasy Impact: Woodley has been playing great football lately, which the Steelers defense will need in order to make playoffs. Woodley now has at least a partial sack in 7 straight and 11.5 on the season.



Two More TD’s for Todd

Update: a week after catching 2 touchdown's for the Baltimore Ravens, TE Todd Heap was back at it again hauling in 2 more TD catches in the teams very tough loss 23-20 loss to the Steelers.

Fantasy Impact: Heap has 4 touchdown catches in his last 2 games. He has become Flacco's go to target in the red zone.



Texan’s Stars Shine in Victory

Update: The Houston Texans received great days from many of its star players as they went up 27-0 at half and held on for a 27-20 win over the Miami Dolphins. QB Matt Schaub threw for 286 yards and Touchdowns to WR's Andre Johnson and Jacoby Jones, both of whom had over 70 yards on the day. Rookie LB Brian Cushing also had a stellar day with 9 tackles, a INT and a sack.

Fantasy Impact: The Texans have been up and down all year and will need some luck to make playoffs this year, but if they do performances like this could mean victories over many of the leagues top teams.



Jerome Hot in Browns Win

Update: Cleveland Browns RB Jerome Harrison followed up his record setting day last week with another great performance, running for 148 yards and a touchdown in the teams win over Oakland.

Fantasy Impact: Jerome now has well over 400 yards in his last 2 games and will face Jacksonville in the teams final game of the season, definitely a good chance to cement his spot as the teams number one RB.



Benson Runs over Chiefs

Update: Cincinnati Bengals RB Cedric Benson helped the Bengals get back on the winning track on Sunday, rushing for 133 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Impact: After a few weeks off Benson has looked great lately which is exactly what the Bengals are going to need going into the playoffs.
