NFL Betting Week 14 Odds and Picks: Broncos-Colts, Bengals-Vikings, Chargers-Cowboys

Sports betting on football is fun because it unites us all. It doesn’t have to be heavy-duty; it can be an office pool or a friendly bet with your grandpa. All that matters is that you’re watching the game and something’s at stake. Let’s pick a few matchups.

Denver Broncos @ Indianapolis Colts

Sunday, December 13, 1:00 p.m. ET

Broncos-Colts Sportsbook odds favorite: Colts -7

Time for the 14th installment of “Is This the Week?” The Broncos can’t be taken lightly given their superb pass rush and No. 3 overall defense. They’ll throw everything they have at Peyton Manning. If the game was in Denver than maybe, just maybe the Broncos could end Indy’s perfect run. But the Colts are just too unstoppable at home.

It won’t be easy – Denver may be the best pass-defending team the Colts have faced this season – but Indy will find a way to win and cover the NFL picks spread yet again.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Minnesota Vikings

Sunday, December 13, 1:00 p.m. ET

Bengals-Vikings Sportsbook odds favorite: Vikings -6.5

Ooh, looks like Minnesota got a little scare. Brett Favre has been perfect…and he threw three picks last week. Jared Allen has been a sack monster…and got completely shut out by a second-string tackle last week. Adrian Peterson is the NFC’s best running back…and ran for just 19 yards on 13 carries last week.

Now, the Vikings have another tough test against the Bengals, who are one football’s most balanced teams. Expect Minny to get back on track.

The Vikes are absolutely dominant at home, especially Favre, who has 16 touchdown passes versus one interception in six games at the Metrodome in 2009. Look for the pass rush to rebound too and put many hits on the flat-footed Carson Palmer.

San Diego Chargers @ Dallas Cowboys

Sunday, December 13, 4:15 p.m. ET

Chargers-Cowboys Sportsbook odds favorite: Cowboys -3

Here’s an extremely tough game to handicap. The Chargers have won 15 straight December games and seven in a row overall this season. Their passing game is really clicking as Antonio Gates looks to shatter some of his own lofty career-bests with Phil Rivers throwing him darts all day. Tony Romo is also notoriously bad in December.

However, something may have changed last week. Dallas lost but Romo was actually sensational, throwing for a career-high 392 yards and three scores on the road. Could he be shedding the December jinx? Also, the Chargers may be pretenders. Five of their nine wins are against Cleveland, Kansas City (twice) and Oakland (twice). Their defensive stats are inflated as a result; worse yet, Brady Quinn threw for three scores against them last week. Doesn’t that mean Romo has a good shot to succeed at home? Pick Dallas.
