It’s Friday, so let’s run down the latest news on the most pertinent injuries affecting the Week 11 fantasy football landscape.

Week 11 Injury Status: Running Backs

Everyone knows by now that Brian Westbrook is out for this week and maybe many more weeks. Here is the news on the other injured running backs.

Cedric Benson Week 11 Injury Status Update: The surprise fantasy stud of 2009 still has not practiced this week and it is looking more and more like he will be out against Oakland on Sunday. This stinks for Benson owners because the Raiders are terrible against the run.

In Memory of Stefanie Spielman & In Support of Her Cause

Email Post Email Post
stefanie-chris-spielman

I am sitting here right now both humbled and saddened as I type this post, having just heard the news of Stefanie Spielman’s passing and then spending a good part of my early morning reading up on her story.

There were a variety of options for morning posts today, but everything else seemed woefully insignificant when stacked up against the story of Stefanie Spielman.

If you are unfamiliar with Stefanie, she was the wife of Ohio State legend Chris Spielman. She was also a woman who spent more than decade of her life dedicated to leading the fight against breast cancer and to helping improve the lives of those who were living with the disease and their families.

Unfortunately, breast cancer claimed the life of Stefanie Spielman yesterday. She was 42 years old.

Open Letter to RichRod: Please Deliver a Win Over Ohio State

Email Post Email Post

Dear Rich Rodriguez,

The University of Michigan players, alumni, and fans have been dying for a win over the hated Ohio State Buckeyes. Please give us a win in what is clearly a “trap game” for the Buckeyes this Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 12:00 pm in Ann Arbor.

The Buckeyes have secured a Rose Bowl appearance and the Big 10 Championship. With all of that already in the bag for them before this game….you never know.

Seriously, How the Hell Could Things Get Any Worse in Cleveland?

Email Post Email Post

A couple of things struck me recently regarding how bad things are in 2009 for the Cleveland Browns and their fans.

Anyone who has watched a game this season knows just how bad the team is, but a few things have happened this week that go beyond the offensive offensive numbers (repetition intended) and the record to truly illustrate what a putrid season this has become.

First off, there may be no bigger indictment of the sorry state of the Browns than this: the Detroit Lions, a team that went 0-16 a year ago and has won only one game this year, is a 3.5 point favorite over the Browns this weekend.

But wait…there’s more.

clarissa-pierro

Pole dancing is no longer just for the professionals.

A once scandalous hobby is now perceived as a challenging form of fitness.

Could pole dancing be the next Olympic sport? That’s a question you don’t hear raised every day. This may sound absurd and far-fetched but it’s a possibility.

Pole sports are being rallied to serve as an addition to the 2026 Olympics. So there’s your cue to hit up the dance studio and swing your way around the pole.

Now if only it were that simple.

Cribbs Down and Quinn Accused of Cheap Shot

Email Post Email Post

There is no joy in Cleveland, the mighty Quinn has gone three and out; kick return man and wildcat Cribbs has gone down.

A fan at Cleveland Browns Stadium for the Monday Night debacle against the Ravens, held up a sign that said it all: “Hey, Baltimore, can you take this team, too?”

After suffering through another day of depression and frustration over the state of these Cleveland Browns’ pretenders, (remember, the Browns did not “come back” in 1999; late owner Al Lerner accepted a nameless, nearly talent-less expansion team and named it the Browns), Browns fans’ hope the end of the nine-game Coach Eric Mangini Era is near.

The Hawks go into their 2-week road trip confident after winning four straight games. They sit at the 3rd spot in their conference and 1st in their division.

LeBron James: 23 to 6

Email Post Email Post

“[Jordan's] number shouldn’t be worn by any player in the NBA,” James told TNT’s Chris Sager.

The guy’s right.

This past Thursday, the Cleveland Cavaliers entered American Airlines Arena to take on Dwyane Wade and Co., but not only was this a showdown of (what I believe) two of the NBA’s best players, but it also came with a little sizzle.

Whether it be Dwyane Wade smashing, destroying, dismantling, annihilating Andersen Varejao (in the new Jordan’s):

or whether it be LeBron James showing us how to finish a game, with PURE defense and clutch baskets.

Yes, this game had it all. Trash talk, stardom, everything! But, maybe the one topic that should be most talked about, came at the end of the game, with LeBron, Chris Sager, and Mo Williams listening in:

In my opinion, this is probably one of the most humble, and loyal moments EVER in NBA history.

[simple_thumbnail]

Why? Well LeBron James is supposedly the next “big” thing (and he is living up to it), as he continues cruising by the record books, making the $$$ from Nike, and much much more.

With all of this hype, LeBron James can easily say he wants to wear 23, but he doesn’t. This shows how much the young phenom from Akron has matured. This shows how much respect a guy like LeBron has for the game, and the game’s G.O.A.T.

I’m about to say something crazy…

but Michael Jordan should be honored.

And with that said, LeBron James will end this season, whether it be with a ring or not, playing his last season with the number of 23. So many memories since his being here, but now we may see the true uprsing of LeBron. Not the legacy of 23, but a new legacy, a new legend, and a new era…

The era of number 6.

Now that my opinion is out in the air, I want to hear yours:

Should LeBron James change his number in honor of MJ?

  • Yes (53%, 19 Votes)
  • No (47%, 17 Votes)

Total Voters: 36

#2 Michigan State Faces Gonzaga in an Early Season Test

Email Post Email Post

[Editor's note: This post was submitted before the Spartans and Zags took the floor last night. I just didn't have a chance to edit and publish it. But as you can see, our man J-Dools had the game pretty well pegged, so I'm posted this anyway.]

Excitement is building in East Lansing as the Spartans prepare to face their first real challenge of the season against Gonzaga, at 8 p.m. on ESPN.

The Spartans will showcase their talented line up that is gathering more and more comparisons to the 2000 championship team. Coach Tom Izzo is among those making such comparisons.

In an interview with ESPN.com Izzo was asked if he would ever coach someone like Mateen Cleaves again. Izzo answered saying that he may be doing that right now. The player Izzo is talking about is junior point guard Kalin Lucas.

NFL Power Rankings: Week 11 (The Challenge)

Email Post Email Post

So last week our dearest editor, Jerod Morris, decided to take a brutal and vicious attack at my power rankings, claiming I didn’t have the stones to pick a first place team or give credit to two teams in 14th and 15th places.

[Editor's note: Honestly, it's not just that you didn't have the stones to make the tough choices last week; it's that you don't have stones...period.]

This week, I have risen to his challenge, and chosen a clear-cut 1st place team as well as giving 14th and 15th places to deserving teams.

[Editor's note: Round of applause everybody! The guy doing the Power Rankings picked someone at #'s 1, 14, and 15! All right! Anyone got a cookie for Myles?]

However, now I am going to issue our editor-in-chief a challenge of my own. Each week he throws in his editors’ notes, criticizing my rankings, only because of his bitterness that his Cleveland Browns have only one win in nine weeks.

My challenge: I challenge you, Jerod Morris, to give us YOUR top 15 teams, and allow ME to edit next week’s post. The gauntlet has been thrown J-Rod, do you accept:

[Editor's note: Sure, whatever. I accept. But trying to produce better Power Rankings than you is like playing quarterback better than Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson. It's not really a challenge.]

Onto the Week 11 Power Rankings:

1. Indianapolis Colts (Last 1 [0])

Yet another “Bullitt” the Colts have dodged. Or should I say the “Bullitt” stopped the Colts from losing their first of the year.
