NFL Week 9 Picks, Spreads, TV Schedule, and Announcer Lineup

Update: The NFL Week 17 TV schedule, point spreads, and picks post is up.

——————–

Mercy has finally come to Browns fans, as the team is on its bye!

Thus, there can be no Sunday massacre to dampen an otherwise pleasant weekend. And here’s the best part: Cleveland doesn’t play until next Monday night, which further prolongs the days between Browns beat-downs.

In between, there are some great games on the NFL Week 9 schedule for Browns fans, as well as Bills, Vikings, Jets, Raiders, and Rams fans, to distract themselves with, most notably the Sunday and Monday night games, both of which should be excellent and match up Dallas-Philadelphia and Denver-Pittsburgh.

We also get key divisional showdowns including Miami-New England, Houston-Indianapolis, and Baltimore-Cincinnati.

It should be another great weekend of NFL football. So, as we get ready for tonight’s Falcons-Saints Monday nighter, let’s take a look forward at the TV schedule, announcer lineups, point spreads and over-unders, and picks for NFL Week 9.

Browns owner Randy Lerner ‘soul-searching’ for an answer to fix 1-7 Browns

Email Post Email Post
randy-lerner

Randy Lerner, owner of the Cleveland Browns, stood near the tunnel to the visiting team locker rooms at Soldier’s Field in Chicago Sunday — and by halftime appeared frustrated, angry and disheartened as the Browns fumbled and bumbled its way to a 30-6 embarrassing drubbing.

Lerner admitted to The Plain Dealer he was “sick” about the 1-7 Browns, the team which ranks at the bottom or very close in all aspects of play, including the offense, defense and special teams. And starting quarterback Derek Anderson had a quarterback rating of 0 at halftime, improving to 10 before the final whistle.

But “sick” as Lerner was, he also said he was not ready to fire head coach Eric Mangini — at least not during this Browns bye week.

Week 8 is here and will be gone after tonight’s Monday Night Game between the Falcons and Saints, and now all the hype is directed at Ryan Moats after his sterling 3-TD performance in place of Steve Slaton.

Moats leads the list of waiver wire steals and potential sleepers for Week 9 of the fantasy football season, especially with another sextet of teams on their bye: the Bills, Browns, Vikings, Jets, Raiders and Rams.

So, is Ryan Moats someone that you should be picking up for Week 9…and perhaps even beyond?

Indiana Hoosiers Mens Basketball 2009-10 TV Schedule

Wednesday cannot come fast enough. After watching the Browns stumble through another horrible Sunday, I am already excited about the turning the page and moving on to college basketball season.

Truthfully, I’ve always been a college basketball fan more than I am a fan of any other sport, and this year there will be nothing distracting me from following every second of Indiana’s 2009-10 season, which should see Tom Crean and the Hoosier program rebound from the unavoidable train wreck that was the 2008-09 season.

Monday Morning Masochism: Browns-Bears Reaction

The Browns are 1-7 and by all accounts are worse right now than they were eight games in their expansion season back in 1999.

Sunday’s loss at Chicago was a little better than last week’s home shellacking by the Packers, but not by much…and only because Chicago played a little more unevenly than the Packers did.

You may have noticed that I’ve been posting about the Browns less and less as this season has motored along. And there is a good reason for that: I don’t totally hate myself.

Obviously I hate myself enough to keep showing up at Browns Backers meetups on Sunday to watch the weekly dreck that is Browns football in 2009…but I try not to dwell on it as much throughout the week anymore.

Here are the thoughts and feelings of those Browns fans who are more committed than I am, if you can possibly stomach reading any more about this team:

Detroit Pistons Weekly Watch: Team Concept, Healthy Rip Hamilton Needed

Detroit-Pistons

At the end of the first week of the 2009-2010 season, the Detroit Pistons are 1-2.

The new look Pistons opened the season with a 96-74 victory at Memphis, then lost at home to Oklahoma City 91-83 and at Milwaukee 96-85.

The road victory was a complete team effort in which the Pistons moved the ball on offense and defended the Grizzlies in transition and the low blocks. Richard Hamilton led all scorers with 25 points and Ben Gordon came off the bench to score 22, but the victory was marred somewhat when Hamilton stepped on O.J. Mayo’s foot and twisted his ankle in the closing minutes.

The plot is beginning to thicken, as they say, now that the calendar has turned to November.

Florida, Texas, and Alabama still appear to be the class of college football, with people still wondering exactly how good teams like Iowa, Boise State, and TCU really are.

And then there are the Oregons — teams written off because of an early season loss that have rebounded — who are charging up the top 25 and looking to play spoiler, if not outright BCS party crasher.

Let’s look ahead to Week 10 and the tv schedule and point spreads for Saturday, November 7th. LSU-Alabama is obviously the biggest game on the schedule, but there are some other ones that you’ll want to keep your eye on as well.

Atlanta Falcons (4-2) at New Orleans Saints (6-0)

  • Falcons-Saints Date: Sunday, November 1st
  • Falcons-Saints Kickoff Time: 8:30 PM
  • Falcons-Saints TV Network: ESPN
  • Falcons-Saints Announcers: Mike Tirico, Ron Jaworski, and Jon Gruden
  • Falcons-Saints Point Spread: Saints -11 (as of Sunday morning)
  • Falcons-Saints Over-Under: 55 (as of Sunday morning)
  • Falcons-Saints Spread Pick by Jerod: This will be another tremendous game and my temptation is to pick the Saints and not think about it. But Atlanta is a good team that just ran into a well-rested, ready-to-go team in Week 7 that was coming off of its bye. I do think the Saints will win, and I’m sure they’ll put up a ton of points, but I think the Falcons can keep this one closer than the 10 points they are being given. Falcons-Saints free pick: Falcons +10

Falcons-Saints MNF Preview and Analysis

In their first intra-divisional game of 2009, the New Orleans Saints, the NFC’s lone unbeaten team, look to start 7-0 for just the second time in team history (1991). It comes on the heels of their most difficult win, last weekend in Miami.
