Led by Lewis, Browns Defeat Bills 6-3 Despite Awful Anderson (Ratliff Time?)

The previously winless Cleveland Browns defeated the one win Buffalo Bills in an offensive-less game earlier today, with the final score finishing at 6-3.

The highlights were not plentiful, but yes, there were a few.

Let’s begin with the return of Jamal Lewis. Early in the week, Lewis was not even considered to be able to play versus Buffalo because of a lingering hamstring injury. Later in the week, Lewis was possibly going to play, but would be eased into action. And then here is the Jamal Lewis stat line from Sunday: 117 yards on 31 carries.

I’m glad to see they took it easy on him.

College Football Week 7 TV Schedule and Point Spreads – Saturday, October 17th

The college football bowl game TV schedule and point spreads have been posted!

Follow the link to view the college football bowl game TV schedule and point spreads for the 2009-10 bowl season, including all BCS games.

—————

I have to say that I was not too enthralled by this past Saturday’s college football slate.

Sure, the buildup to Florida-LSU was intriguing, but LSU’s offense is terrible, we did not get to see vintage Tim Tebow, and the game of the week ending up being a sloppy 13-3 contest.

However, such an anti-climactic Saturday should not be in the offing this weekend.

The highlight of the Week 7 college football schedule is obviously the Red River Rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma.

Big Ten Football Week 6 Roundup

Email Post Email Post
big-ten-logo

Week 6 is in the books and it was a busy Saturday in the Big Ten with all 11 teams playing.  Three teams — Northwestern, Penn State, and Indiana — took on out-of-conference opponents, with the other 8 battling each other.

The only real surprise from the Big Ten was the beating Indiana took against Virginia.

Indiana came into the game at 3-2, and while they have not beaten any particularly formidable opponents, they looked good against Michigan on the road in one of the hardest places to play a road game. Virginia came into the game at 1-3 with losses to William & Mary and Southern Miss.

However, Indiana’s offense could not seem to get anything going while Virginia amassed 536 total yards including 231 on the ground and five rushing touchdowns. Indiana fans were surely looking for a better performance from the Hoosiers than this 47-7 romp.

The Cleveland Cavaliers traveled to North Carolina to beat the Bobcats, 102-96, in their second Preseason matchup. The game was not televised, but it was still evident by the loud applause that echoed threw the radio airwaves – the Shaq and LeBron Show was well received on the road.

Cavs Play-By-Play Announcer Fred McLeod, standing in for Joe Tait on WTAM 1100 AM, said that the near capacity crowd was a rarity for a Bobcat game.

Update 10/1/10: Bryce is now in 7th grade and still tearing up the gridiron. Click here for the latest on Bryce, and to see his new unofficial Gatorade commercial.

With his rare combination of breakaway speed, violent power, and graceful balance, Adrian Peterson has made Vikings #28 jerseys a hot commodity across the country. Still only 24, Peterson should (knock on wood) have at least another 6-7 years of dominance left in him.

By the time Peterson is ready to hang up his cleats for good, another running back from his home state of Texas may be ready to step into his shoes.

Ladies and gentleman, please indulge me as I introduce you to Bryce “The Beast” Garner, Midwest Sports Fans’ #1 ranked 6th grade football player in America.

Steelers-Lions Preview and Prediction

rashard-mendenhall-fantasy-football-week-5-injury-updates-reports

Okay, I know everyone is saying to themselves that this game is pretty much lopsided, and that Detroit’s D will have trouble stopping the Ben-and-Mendenhall combo this Sunday.

I also know that everyone is saying that Matthew Stafford’s passes (if he plays) will be looked at as if they were some juicy steaks by the Steelers secondary.

Well for all of you out there who believe this…you are absolutely right.

Willie Parker Out vs Lions, Rashard Mendenhall Gets His Chance

According to numerous sources, Steelers HB Willie Parker will be out again this week against the Detroit Lions. Willie Parker’s toe still does not seem to be at 100% like Tomlin wants.

In place of Parker, Steelers HB Rashard Mendenhall will get a second start, and a much deserved second start indeed.

Week 5 RB Injury Updates: Benson, Parker, Barber, Bradshaw, and More

Email Post Email Post

About to hop on the phone for my weekly fantasy football radio spot, but wanted to provide some quick injury updates on the running backs.

My apologies in advance for any typos…did not have time to proofread.

Here ya go:

Cedric Benson injury update – did not participate in Thursday’s practice (hip).

Despite not practicing yet this week, Cedric Benson insists he is okay and will play on Sunday. Personally, I think he’s having flashbacks to last season’s 10-carry, 17-yard performance and contemplating doing anything he has to do to avoid facing the Ravens’ D.
