NFL Week 6 Picks, Point Spreads, and TV Schedule
Update: The NFL Week 11 TV schedule, point spreads, and picks post is up.
——————–
Week 5 was not so stellar for me from a fantasy perspective, but on the bright side the Browns actually got a W and the Dolphins are up 10-7 on the Jets right now as I write this.
Plus, I dominated against the spread last week: 9-4 (with the updated Monday night result). That makes me 43-31 against the spread on the season, meaning I would have to totally pull a chiefsramsraiderstitansbucs two weeks in a row to fall below .500.
This week features a few very interesting games, most notably an undefeated showdown between the 4-0 Saints and 5-0 Giants. Unfortunately, it’s a 1:00 game. The Vikings and Ravens also matchup at 1:00.
In primetime, we get a pretty intriguing matchup between 3-1 Atlanta and 3-1 Chicago, and then it’s Broncos-Chargers on Monday night. The early spread for that game was very surprising, at least to me.
Who am I picking? Read on for the NFL Week Six picks, point spreads, and TV schedule.

TV Schedule – Announcers – Kickoff Times – Byes
Point Spreads – Free Picks – Odds – Over-Unders
St. Louis Rams (0-5) at Jacksonville Jaguars (2-3)
- Rams-Jaguars Date: Sunday, October 18th
- Rams-Jaguars Kickoff Time: 1:00 PM
- Rams-Jaguars TV Network: FOX
- Rams-Jaguars Announcers: Ron Pitts and John Lynch
- Rams-Jaguars Point Spread: Jaguars -10.5
- Rams-Jaguars Over-Under: 42
- Rams-Jaguars Spread Pick: I am pissed at the Jaguars because I was relying heavily on David Garrard and Mike Sims-Walker in one of my fantasy leagues, with a seemingly decent matchup against Seattle last week. Well, Sims-Walker was deactivated before the game and Garrard sucked. To hell with you Jaguars. You’re dead to me. Of course, that’s better than actually being dead, which is what the Rams are. Still, I think St. Louis can cover with Marc Bulger expected back. Rams-Jaguars free pick: Rams +10.5
Baltimore Ravens (3-2) at Minnesota Vikings (5-0)
- Ravens-Vikings Date: Sunday, October 18th
- Ravens-Vikings Kickoff Time: 1:00 PM
- Ravens-Vikings TV Network: CBS
- Ravens-Vikings Announcers: Greg Gumbel and Dan Dierdorf
- Ravens-Vikings Point Spread: Vikings -3.5
- Ravens-Vikings Over-Under: 43.5
- Ravens-Vikings Spread Pick: This should be a very entertaining game and it is certainly an intriguing line. The Vikings have not been tested as much as the Ravens have in the early season, and the two teams’ records reflect that. And think about, Baltimore is a Mark Clayton drop from being 4-1 and Minnesota is an amazing Favre-to-Lewis bomb from being 4-1 as well. Still, in the dome, I think the speed of the Vikings’ offense wins out. Peterson, Harvin, and Berrian are too much for a Baltimore D that couldn’t stop Cedric Benson last week. Ravens-Vikings free pick: Vikings -3.5
Detroit Lions (1-4) at Green Bay Packers (2-2)
- Lions-Packers Date: Sunday, October 18th
- Lions-Packers Kickoff Time: 1:00 PM
- Lions-Packers TV Network: FOX
- Lions-Packers Announcers: Kenny Albert, Daryl Johnston, and Tony Siragusa
- Lions-Packers Point Spread: Packers -13.5
- Lions-Packers Over-Under: 48
- Lions-Packers Spread Pick: I am very intrigued by this line as well, and my gut is that it’s way too big. I know the Packers are at home, but this is still a division game. The Packers are having trouble on there O-Line and are not running the ball all that well. Detroit has been scrappy this year, and could have Matthew Stafford back. I don’t think the Lions can win this one, but I do think they can keep it within a 9-12 point deficit. Lions-Packers free pick: Lions +13.5
Houston Texans (2-3) at Cincinnati Bengals (4-1)
- Texans-Bengals Date: Sunday, October 18th
- Texans-Bengals Kickoff Time: 1:00 PM
- Texans-Bengals TV Network: CBS
- Texans-Bengals Announcers: Don Criqui and Randy Cross
- Texans-Bengals Point Spread: Bengals -4.5
- Texans-Bengals Over-Under: 45
- Texans-Bengals Spread Pick: I am scared of this game. The Bengals are very good, but I still have not totally bought in yet. And the Texans are the kind of team that you keep waiting to reel of 4-5 straight wins. You now what though? I’m going to actually trust what I’ve seen. Cincinnati is one miracle play by Denver away from being 5-0, whereas Houston is moving the ball but can’t stop anyone and can’t run for tough yards. I think the Bengals roll early in this one, and the Texans don’t have enough late to pull it out or cover. Texans-Bengals free pick: Bengals -4.5
Cleveland Browns (1-4) at Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2)
- Browns-Steelers Date: Sunday, October 18th
- Browns-Steelers Kickoff Time: 1:00 PM
- Browns-Steelers TV Network: CBS
- Browns-Steelers Announcers: Kevin Harlan and Solomon Wilcots
- Browns-Steelers Point Spread: Steelers -14.5
- Browns-Steelers Over-Under: 38
- Browns-Steelers Spread Pick: I really want to pick the Browns to cover in this one, because it means that my Sunday afternoon might not be spent watching a complete blowout. However, with Troy Polamalu possibly coming back, and the Steelers starting to figure out how to run the ball again…sorry Browns, but I’m just not very optimistic. Can you blame me? Browns-Steelers free pick: Steelers -14.5
Kansas City Chiefs (0-5) at Washington Redskins (2-3)
- Chiefs-Redskins Date: Sunday, October 18th
- Chiefs-Redskins Kickoff Time: 1:00 PM
- Chiefs-Redskins TV Network: CBS
- Chiefs-Redskins Announcers: Ian Eagle and Rich Gannon
- Chiefs-Redskins Point Spread: Redskins -6.5
- Chiefs-Redskins Over-Under: 37
- Chiefs-Redskins Spread Pick: Ugh. Yuck. Gross. Disgusting. That’s what I think about this game. Do you realize that Washington has not played a team yet that had a victory at the time the game was played? And yet, they are still only 2-3. I would rather watch the Browns get pasted by the Steelers than watch five minutes of this wretch fest. No way the Redskins win this one by a touchdown when the Cowboys couldn’t. Chiefs-Redskins free pick: Chiefs +6.5
Carolina Panthers (1-3) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-5)
- Panthers-Buccaneers Date: Sunday, October 18th
- Panthers-Buccaneers Kickoff Time: 1:00 PM
- Panthers-Buccaneers TV Network: FOX
- Panthers-Buccaneers Announcers: Dick Stockton and Charles Davis
- Panthers-Buccaneers Point Spread: Panthers -3.5
- Panthers-Buccaneers Over-Under: 40
- Panthers-Buccaneers Spread Pick: I think the win over the Redskins could be a galvanizing game for the Panthers, who I steadfastly refuse to give up on. Jonathan Stewart looked good in the second half last week, and if the Panthers can get the DAW-JS combo working again, it will take pressure off of Jake Delhomme and make this team dangerous again. I also see big things from Steve Smith against the Bucs’ porous secondary. Panthers-Buccaneers free pick: Panthers -3.5
New York Giants (5-0) at New Orleans Saints (4-0)
- Giants-Saints Date: Sunday, October 18th
- Giants-Saints Kickoff Time: 1:00 PM
- Giants-Saints TV Network: FOX
- Giants-Saints Announcers: Tom Brennaman and Troy Aikman
- Giants-Saints Point Spread: Saints -3.5
- Giants-Saints Over-Under: 47
- Giants-Saints Spread Pick: Easily the game of the week, and I can’t wait. The Giants have looked absolutely awesome, but they’ve also played the Chiefs, Raiders, and Buccaneers in back-to-back weeks. Their only impressive win so far is over Dallas, who is not that good, making New York’s 5-0 record slightly hollow. The Saints, on the other hand, took the previously unbeaten Jets to the woodshed without throwing a TD pass. That is impressive and shows the versatility of this offense. I think the Saints have been the most impressive team in football so far this season, and I think their offense sticks it to the Giants with Drew Brees’ quick accuracy neutralizing the Giants’ rush. Giants-Saints free pick: Saints -3.5
Arizona Cardinals (2-2) at Seattle Seahawks (2-3)
- Cardinals-Seahawks Date: Sunday, October 18th
- Cardinals-Seahawks Kickoff Time: 4:05 PM
- Cardinals-Seahawks TV Network: FOX
- Cardinals-Seahawks Announcers: Chris Myers and Brian Billick
- Cardinals-Seahawks Point Spread: Seahawks -3.5
- Cardinals-Seahawks Over-Under: 47
- Cardinals-Seahawks Spread Pick: This is a pretty intriguing game with Matt Hasselbeck back under center for Seattle. They whooped Jacksonville last week, while Arizona got a nice W over a decent Texans team. Kurt Warner seems to be playing well right now, making this an underrated battle of two very good QBs. I think it’s a pretty even matchup, which means the edge goes to the home team. But is it more than a field goal edge? (Eenie, meany, miney mo…) I say yes. Seattle is different team with Hasselbeck. Cardinals-Seahawks free pick: Seahawks -3.5
Philadelphia Eagles (3-1) at Oakland Raiders (1-4)
- Eagles-Raiders Date: Sunday, October 18th
- Eagles-Raiders Kickoff Time: 4:05 PM
- Eagles-Raiders TV Network: FOX
- Eagles-Raiders Announcers: Sam Rosen and Tim Ryan
- Eagles-Raiders Point Spread: Eagles -14.5
- Eagles-Raiders Over-Under: 40.5
- Eagles-Raiders Spread Pick: Another ugh game. I’m not even wasting my time. The Eagles will roll in this one, just like the Giants did last week, and just like everyone will do for the rest of the season against them. Eagles-Raiders free pick: Eagles -14.5
Buffalo Bills (1-4) at New York Jets (?-?)
- Bills-Jets Date: Sunday, October 18th
- Bills-Jets Kickoff Time: 4:15 PM
- Bills-Jets TV Network: CBS
- Bills-Jets Announcers: Dick Enberg and Dan Fouts
- Bills-Jets Point Spread: No line as of Monday night
- Bills-Jets Over-Under: No line as of Monday night
- Bills-Jets Spread Pick: What I saw last Sunday between the Bills and Browns was absolutely disgusting. The Bills just happened to be the most disgusting team on the field, but I can’t imagine a team looking worse. I don’t care what the line is for this game; barring some major injury during the second half of the Monday Nighter (when I’m making these picks) I’m going with the Jets. Bills-Jets free pick: Jets minus whatever the spread is.
Tennessee Titans (0-5) at New England Patriots (3-2)
- Titans-Patriots Date: Sunday, October 18th
- Titans-Patriots Kickoff Time: 4:15 PM
- Titans-Patriots TV Network: CBS
- Titans-Patriots Announcers: Jim Nantz and Phil Simms
- Titans-Patriots Point Spread: Patriots -9.5
- Titans-Patriots Over-Under: 43.5
- Titans-Patriots Spread Pick: I keep thinking the Titans are going to show some pride and put forth a good performance. And they keep playing like crap. Maybe it’s time to just realize that the Titans are crap this year. With Randy Moss coming off of a one-catch game, and the Titans having the league’s worst secondary, I like the Patriots to roll big in this one, with Brady and Moss turning in big fantasy numbers. Titans-Patriots free pick: Patriots -9.5
Chicago Bears (3-1) at Atlanta Falcons (3-1)
- Bears-Falcons Date: Sunday, October 18th
- Bears-Falcons Kickoff Time: 8:20 PM
- Bears-Falcons TV Network: NBC
- Bears-Falcons Announcers: Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth
- Bears-Falcons Point Spread: Falcons -3.5
- Bears-Falcons Over-Under: 46
- Bears-Falcons Spread Pick: There is nothing inherent about the history of this matchup that makes it intriguing. And while these two teams are NFC foes, they are in different divisions and have flown under the radar with their solid starts. I think we could be in for a very good game, and another underrated QB matchup between Jay Cutler and Matt Ryan. These two guys will be among the league’s best and most exciting QBs for the next decade. I think the Falcons re-announced themselves last week against San Francisco, and I look for their balanced attack to be too much for the Bears. Bears-Falcons free pick: Falcons -3.5
Denver Broncos (5-0) at San Diego Chargers (2-2)
- Broncos-Chargers Date: Monday, October 19th
- Broncos-Chargers Kickoff Time: 8:30 PM
- Broncos-Chargers TV Network: ESPN
- Broncos-Chargers Announcers: Mike Tirico, Ron Jaworski, and Jon Gruden
- Broncos-Chargers Point Spread: Chargers -3.5
- Broncos-Chargers Over-Under: 44
- Broncos-Chargers Spread Pick: I was shocked when I first saw this line, but am not so shocked the more I think about it. The Chargers are coming off a bye, should have a healthier LaDainian Tomlinson at their disposal, and had to listen to their GM call them out this past week. The Broncos are coming off of a tough, emotional win over New England, and you have to think that this team is going to stumble on the road at some point. I think Philip Rivers outplays Kyle Orton and the Chargers hand the Broncos their first loss of the season, and by more than a field goal. Broncos-Chargers free pick: Chargers -3.5

I don't agree with that. I think the bronco's D is gonna shut that San Diego offense down and pull off a close game as they've done a couple of times already.I think that people are still short-changing the broncos and i think they need more credit. They've beaten two of the leagues best teams already.

Look, the Broncos are a very good team. And 5-1 would be a terrific start. But I don't think anyone looks at Denver and sees the 2007 Patriots. They are going to lose some games this year, but certainly are looking more like a 12-4 or 13-3 team with each passing week. I think a Monday night road game at San Diego will be one of their tougher challenges of the season. I can understand the 3.5 point spread and losing would not be shameful in any way for Denver.
San Diego is talented enough that Denver could play a good game and still lose. We'll see Monday night. One thing is for sure: Denver is much better than anyone though coming into the year.

I know the Chargers are a lot better than they are looking, I am on no way ashamed (as a charger fan) to have lost to the Ravens and the Steelers. The AFC North is the best division in the league this year. The Broncos have not been challenged yet, and good defense or not, they arent the Jets, they aren't the Steelers, and they aren't the Ravens. The Ravens could barely stop us in tim to win that game. I think thes Chargers and Broncos game is going to be an INCREDIBLY offensive game. The Chargers are the only team in the league that can win without a defense, they proved that last year. Brandon Marshall is an amazing receiver, but i don't see anything else from their offense other than that. San Diego is going to run wild, and Denver is going to answer with every score the chargers get, i pick the Broncos to cover the spread, but still lose.

And the Broncos have NOT beaten two of the leagues best, no offense. The Cowboys are trash this year. TRASH. And the Patriots are showing no sign of being playoff worthy. The were 1 point away from losing to the BILLS, and only beat the ravens because of the ravens defensive penalties and failed attemps to catch perfect passes. I honestly think the Broncos have had the easiest shcedule of the season this year. Look at them bengals though. Took on Baltimore and Pittsburgh. Then beat the Pack AT Lambeau, now those are impressive wins.
