Eli Manning, Matt Hasselbeck Injury Update: Both Expected to Start Sunday

John Clayton just reported on ESPN.com that both Eli Manning and Matt Hasselbeck are expected to start Sunday despite injuries.

Manning has been (and will be) dealing with plantar fasciitis, while Hasselbeck has been dealing with a broken rib.

As for the fantasy implications, I’ve already cited Manning as a good “sit” candidate for Week 5 because of the injury and the Giants’ matchup. I’m assuming he will be relatively effective if the Giants are putting him out there, but still think they will rely on their running game today against Oakland.

As for Hasselbeck, he’s a wild card. Jacksonville’s defense is not good and Hasselbeck should be able to take advantage. I’m a little worried and would like to see him play a week before throwing him out there, but if you need him to replace a starter on a bye week, you could do a lot worse.
