Eric Wedge Likely Out Today in Cleveland

Courtesy of the good folks at the Dugout Sports Show (@DugoutSportsShow) and Waiting For Next Year, we can inform you that the Cleveland Indians have scheduled a 1:30 press conference, presumably to announce the firing of manager Eric Wedge.

According to Scott from Waiting For Next Year, the entire staff will finish out the year and then be replaced.

Our own AJ Kaufman has been a vocal proponent of a manager change in Cleveland, and it appears that his wishes will now come true.

The Indians, predicted by many to win the AL Central this year — and certainly to compete — are 64-92, 19.5 games out of first place.

This is a good day on the shores of Lake Erie. People forget that many, like me, really did think the Indians would win the central and go deep into October. Now they're ready to finish behind KC. Wedge is a decent person, but he totally underachieved the past two seasons and three of the past four. Considering the momentum of 2007 and the 2008-2009 debacles, this was long, long overdue. Should have happened in June. The season was over by mid-April when Cleveland opened 1-8!
