Unfortunately for a lot of young people to get to a better place in life sports is all they have. While they may excel in sports the rough or street life they wanted to leave behind follows them. On draft day a switch does not flip and suddenly they are aware that they themselves are a business and need to be treated as such. They continue to be told that they are the life of the party and nothing can stop them. I have seen it at many levels in sports and numerous sports. I have always wondered we the NCAA does not make student athletes take a "life" course. Prior to leaving the military a person has to go through "transition" training. It is a sad state of affairs in today’s collage athletics. Unfortunately for a lot of young people to get to a better place in life sports is all they have.
