[...] Time for mid-season awards! “AL Central Least Valuable Player of the 1st Half: Fausto Carmona of the Indians. We touched on his stats above, and they really say it all. This guy has just gone straight downhill since 2007 and the Indians have to be wondering if he’ll ever be able to recapture the ability that made him appear to be one of the bright young pitching stars in the big leagues. Despite a rough 2008, a lot was expected out of Carmona this year. Well, the Indians have gotten a lot out of him…it’s just all been bad.” [Jerod "Middle-aged" Morris/Midwest Sports Fans] [...]

How about NEAL HUNTINGTON for GM of the year? If he somehow manages to pull Eric Young Jr. out of his hat, he'll win without a contest. People are whining in Pittsburgh about losing "the great Nyjer Morgan" and "the incomparable Nate McLouth," but at least they didn't give themselves a wedgie over Eric Hinske! Looking at the talent that NH has acquired in these trades, especially considering the logistics and timing of the trades, Pirates fans can breathe a sigh of relief that it looks like there is finally someone in charge who appears to know what he's doing.
