As for the Reds, I wouldn’t expect much this year. As for the Indians, Cliff Lee is only confirming for me that last year was one of the greatest flukes to ever grace the diamond. As for the Padres, Adrian Gonzalez should be a perenial MVP candidate for the next decade (but he may not be if he plays in San Diego). And as for Beckett…he is a punk, he should take after his former teammate Curt Schilling and show a little more respect. Schilling might have had a big mouth, but he wouldn’t have pulled a stunt like Beckett…

That’s a pretty broad statement to make about the here on 4/14. Heck, we don’t even have leaves on the trees yet, and you don’t “expect much” from a 3-3 team with high aspirations?

I agree, sadly, with your assessment of Lee. I used to call him “Stiff” for a reason.

On the Pads and Gonzo, yep. ESPN even noted how he’s overlooked due to media bias.

Schilling did have a mouth, but was honest, classy and contrite when necessary. Beckett has yet to grow up.

@AJ Kaufman, Adrian Gonzalez is a complete badass. Strikes out a bit much, but you can’t argue with the other numbers. I got him later than I expected in fantasy this year and couldn’t be happier. Can you imagine if he had stayed with the Rangers playing in that ballpark? Wow…

As for Cliff Lee, refer to last night’s post. I’ve never been a believer. Last year was his high water mark and I see him as a 4.25-4.50 ERA guy at best. Essentially a poor man’s Mark Buerhle who just caught lightning in a bottle for a season.

For the Reds it’s all about pitching. Not unlike most teams.

I’ve always liked Beckett. The same intensity, however, that makes him such a great big game pitcher can also lead him to do stupid stuff like that.
