@Jake, Kent Hrbek, Jack Morris' fat mustache. You know for the Puckett reference I can see karma smacking me in the face May 21st when I am in US Cellular and Crede homers off of Jenks in the 9th for your victory. I heard Cuban born Dayan Viciedo, who is competing for Crede's opening, is a Prince Fielder type wide body. Cecil Fielder, Frank Thomas, Albert Belle today...

@KVB, We have an abundance of fat worthless players you could have chosen instead. Sidney Ponson, Carlos Silva, and Tony Batista just to name a few. Jenks can throw heat at those three all day if it so pleases you. All kidding aside though, your articles are one of the few White Sox blogs that have perspective and they are usually well written. This one reference just got me a little perturbed.

@Jake, Probably a poor way of describing my disdain for the Twinkies. Probably just because they are better than the Sox most years. Seriously, Kirby Puckett was a great player and I miss men like him.

Wow. Imagining dead baseball players "making a comeback" only to get beaned in the eye. Nothing but class on this blog....

Nice montage KVB. There is simply nothing better than Hawk Harrelson announcing a home run. I was watching a game from the 70s on the MLB Network this weekend in which Harry Caray was the announcer. Harry Caray was great and all, but there is no way that he was more exciting than Hawk is. It might be, it could be, it is...a home run? Are you serious? And Cubs fans think that's better than WAY BACK! STRETCH! STRETCH! HE LOOKS UP...YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD......YEEEESSSS!!!

Best homerun call ever.

Anyway, I share your despair over Crede's departure, although I think in the longterm, and maybe even short-term, interests of the club it is the right move. Crede has had two pretty serious back surgeries and struggled mightily in the second half last season. His defense irreplacable, but he is not going to do us any good on the DL. And with young guys like Fields and Viciedo ready to compete for the spot, it may be best for all parties to give Joe a shot somewhere else.

I do take exception to one thing: he's not more clutch than Robin with the bases juiced. Crede is definitely clutch, both offensively and defensively, but Robin Ventura could jack grand slams hopping on one leg. Only Alexei has a shot to match Robin in that department.
