@Jerry Bentley, I agree with you. I think Tennessee definitely has a problem at the top. I was always a big fan of Phil Fulmer, but I can’t be hypocritical: I did think a change at head coach might breathe fresh life into the program and help with recruiting. Still, I wasn’t a big fan of how they went about it.

But I NEVER would have advocated for a change if I had known they’d hire Bozo the Clown’s third grade cousin to be the head coach. Kiffin’s buffoonery just baffles me, and there is absolutely no defense for him.

The admin, and the fans, wanted recruiting to improve. Kiffin obviously knows that, but like the coach at IU before Tom Crean (I don’t say his name anymore…it makes me wretch), he does not understand that you have to draw lines in the sand and maintain ethics and accountability, and you have to have discretion.

I am afraid that Tennessee’s football program is on its way to a season like IU is experiencing this year. Hopefully they can find a Tom Crean to help turn things around once Kiffin is finally gone.

I believe the root cause and Tennessee’s present (and future) problems rests in the higher Administration. I believe Phil Fulmer’s treatment speaks volumes about the character of Tennessee’s decisionmakers. They had a complete package in Fulmer – a great coach and and a good and decent human being. Tennessee deserves the consequences of their greed.

@Chad, trust me, one of the first things I did upon reading this story on SI was check to see if that domain was available. It’s parked at godaddy.com by someone very wise. They’ll make a lot of money off of it if Lane Kiffin keeps acting like a clown.

Ever think about buying up the web address http://www.firelanekiffin.com? Because if he keeps this up, someone out there is going to want to buy it you can name your price then.

I know when Urban Meyer was hired at Florida, someone bought that address for the sole purpose of someone starting a hate website toward Meyer like they did with Ron Zook.

But I agree with you, Kiffin is quickly ruining his coaching career with his behavior at Oakland and now UT.

This is pretty ironic. I hope Tennessee well but this is a poor start. To his credit he could use a year to grow into the position and be able to really take time to look out for “fog machine” violations in the future. How could the recruiting coordinator not know this stuff?
