Wow, you were way off! J/k.

Not only did Lerner make a quick decision, he made a quick decision and hired Mangini and the sucking continues. Just like you predicted.

Jrod,

Our wishes may come true (fingers crossed, pray to the Football God).

At 2:26 pm Tony Grossi reported that Randy Lerner will interview fired Denver Broncos Coach Mike Shanahan.

Also, the Boston Herald is reporting that Pioli is considering Cleveland's offer of general manager.

But he may want Kurt Ference as his coach. No way, Jose.

Another memo to Randy Lerner:

Do what it takes to get Pioli and Shanahan. Sit with them both. Let Bernie Kosar sit in on it. Let Tony Grossi and Mary Kay Cabot of The Plain Dealer sit in on the interviews.

Heck, let me MidnightWriter sit there and listen to the Q&A. I feel so helpless! I don't want my hopes dashed! I don't want to look forward to 2009 as I did 2008 -- and be so utterly disappointed,disgusted, devastated.

Open, memo to myself: Calm down.

Back to you, Jrod!

@Scott @ WFNY,

If the Browns have a chance to interview Mike Shanahan they absolutely should take it. He has struggled recently, but he knows how to build a running game and has successful playoff experience. He instantly gives us credibility at the head coaching position and a winning attitude, with experience to back it up.

That said, I think his ability as a personnel guy is easily questionable -- especially on the D side of the ball. If he only wants to be head coach, I'm all about it. But I'd like to see an experienced personnel guy over him. Would he accept something like that? Not sure...

Eric Mangini may be a talented coach, i mean it showed with the jets at the beginning of this season, but then his true colors showed through and the jets are no longer playoff bound. If the browns pick him as their new head coach, im sorry but the browns will have a losing season once again.
