Browns Banter: Brady Quinn Will Have Surgery in Alabama for Injured Finger
Despite the possible complications connected with surgery, Cleveland Browns franchise quarterback Brady Quinn is scheduled for surgery on his injured index finger on Wednesday — in Alabama.
Last Tuesday Quinn, 24, told the media he had one week to decide whether to wear a splint to mend the fractured right index finger tip of his throwing arm or have surgery to repair the tiny break and possible tendon damage.
The surgery will be performed by hand specialist Dr. Thomas Hunt in Alabama, accoding the news reports.
Quinn injured his finger on a football helmet in his first away start on Nov. 17 where Cleveland beat Buffalo, 29-27.
Despite the soreness in his finger, Quinn opted to start against the Houston Texans at Cleveland Browns Stadium, Nov. 23, but was pulled late in the third quarter after throwing his second interception.
Although he refused to use the broken finger as an excuse, it seemed to be bothering him. Quinn is expected to make a full recovery in 10 weeks. (Picture my feet being crossed as I write this.)
With Derek Anderson knocked out of commission after being sacked in the fourth quarter against Indianapolis Sunday, third-string quarterback Ken Dorsey, a University of Miami, Fla. starter, will take the reins against the Titans on Sunday. (Unless, of course, one of these other stellar candidates is chosen.)
Okay, Browns fans, let’s chant: DOR-sey! DOR-sey!
And say a prayer for Brady.
