Lambeau Love: Mark Laughlin-Rodgers Joins Midwest Sports Fans
I am a newcomer to all of this; a complete sports blog neophyte. I am not really quite sure if I know how to do this exactly or that I am actually qualified to even be here, but in any event, here I am. I don’t know how to inspire you from the get-go to keep coming back to reading my thoughts on the storied Packers franchise. I don’t live in Green Bay, I am not an accomplished writer, and I am often so poor at verbal description that I have no idea how to tell the barber to cut my hair.
What I am though is a life-long Packers fan with some idea of how to write, who can make a promise to you, the reader. I can promise that I will give to you my own honest take on what I think about the Packers team both during the seasons and between them and that what I come up with won’t be as horrible as having to listen to Pam Ward do Big Ten games on ESPN2.
In a situation like this though, you are going to see a lot of growing pains from me. To be honest, there is no chance that I will be able
to step into this role and write opinions the way Matt Ryan has stepped onto the football this season and hit receivers. At this point, I can only hope that I could make the same progressions here that Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has these past 10 games.
Coincidently, Aaron and I probably got the same starts in our respective positions. It’s likely the only reason I got the nod for this opportunity was because someone who was better at this than me was traded elsewhere because he held the management hostage for three years about his plans for the future. I just hope the admins here aren’t playing the same gamble that Ted Thompson is and they actually have a trusty back-up somewhere in case I go down with a severe case of bruised ego or get suspended for using water pills.
Success is my best case scenario. The problem is that it’s the least likely scenario. No, what will probably happen is that as time wears on and my opinions slide into the same realm of bad class the Bears team punched their way into Sunday, the comments will drive me back into spending all my time in the legal profession where I actually belong.
Let’s all just keep our fingers crossed that things don’t get that ugly.
(Editor’s note: The admin team is already regretting its decision to let Mark Laughlin’s predecessor go. He was a writer with 17 years of experience, 3 Blogger of the Year Awards, and had led Midwest Sports Fans to a Blog Bowl championship. Now we are stuck with this neophyte with no posting experience. Yeah…this is not going to end well.)

Welcome aboard Mark…glad to have you. And don’t pay any attention to the Editor’s note. That guy is a big tool and probably sings rhyming jingles to himself and friends as a form of recreation.
It’s about time we had some Packers talk on here!

I couldn’t agree with you more, Jerod. Mark will be a positive addition to the site, and you are a jingle-heimer-tool.
Mark, I found your post to be pleasingly honest, persuasive, and bereft of heresay. In addition, I especially liked your closing statements.
