@Much Needed Reality Check,

Well, speaking of predictions coming true, it's self back-pat time.

Quinn with that historic 14 for 36 passing performance, for a -- get this! -- whopping 5 yards per attempt. Dink dunkarooney!

Game ball goes to the Buffalo DB who dropped (what should've been) Brady Boy's game-losing pick at the end. Sign that dude up for a Land o' Lakes commercial, 'cause he's got major butterfingers.

Nice Prediction, Jerod. I hope you're right.

You may have noticed that i picked up Jerome Harrison in our fantasy league. I think that he is going to get a lot more touches in the coming weeks (fantasy playoffs).

Much needed reality check,
when i made my prediction, i didn't know that we would lose two receivers to staph, and that Braylon Edwards would play so Michiganny.
Seriously, though. Stop thinking about me at night. Stop typing my name. Stop trying to be funny. Restrain yourself...Do NOT make us restrain you.

Despite the best efforts of the referees, the Pittsburgh Steelers take the Chargers to cement their usual division lead. And to think Rusty's "4-5 by week 9" prediction turned out to apply more to his beloved Brownies -- oh the irony!

Congratulations Pittsburgh Steelers on a tough and much-deserved win!

Should be fun to see Brady "Find the Safety Valve and Duck!" Quinn bring his patented dink-dunk game to national TV. Or as it will be known for tonight, "Monday Night Shortball." Getcha popcorn -- and your crotch-grabbing gloves -- ready!

Mevins,

Thank you for your visit and your comment. And your blog has lots of good information, so I'd definitely recommend people check it out.

Let me clarify: Brady Quinn has plenty of arm strength to throw the deep ball, he has just not proven to be very accurate throwing it long. He is a West Coast QB who is very adept at reading defenses, making decisions, and throwing accurately and into tight spaces. These are all areas where he greatly exceeds Derek Anderson.

There was one reason, and one reason only, why Derek Anderson started over Brady Quinn for so long: his ability to accurately throw the deep ball. Think about the biggest difference between our offense this year and last year. It is the absence of the deep ball. Last year, Braylon was catching bombs once or twice every game at a minimum it seemed. The Browns could live with Derek's mistakes because the threat of the big play, and his success producing them, overcome the mistakes most times.

This year, DA has lacked confidence and Braylon has lacked hands. And without Jurevicius or a healthy Stallworth, and defenses playing the Browns differently, the deep ball hasn't been there. If we are going to be a move the chains offense, Brady is much better suited to that style of football. Hence, why he is not starting.

But make no mistake, the biggest area of improvement that Brady needs to make is his ability to produce big plays through the passing game. Both Browns scouts that I have talked to have said this, and ask yourself: if it wasn't true, why would Brady not have been starting all along? Some may he should have been starting, and they might be right. But the reason is that in college and in practice, Brady has shown an inconsistency with his deep accuracy. I certainly expect it to improve, but I doubt it will ever be his bread and butter.

Give Brady Quinn receivers who can run after the catch, who don't mind going over the middle, and who can scramble to get open when Brady buys time in and out of the pocket, and he will be successful. I think he will be an outstanding NFL QB, but much more like a Joe Montana-style than a Dan Fouts.

"Brady Quinn won't make a living beating people deep"

People said the same thing about another Brady not so long ago. If you think Quinn can't throw the deep ball you haven't watched enough of his play.
