Skip,

OK, let's say that Texas was given the berth in the B12 champ game. Wouldn't then the Texas Tech fans would have your same complaint? The fact is that when 3 teams have beaten each other in a triangle, you can't use one team's defeat of another in any comparison.

You say, "But any team can beat any other team on a given day," as a defense of UT's loss to TT, but doesn't the same thing apply to OU's loss to UT?

[...] The Cardinals play Tulsa in the GMAC Bowl on January 6, 2009. That is a long time from now, and will be a long time for San Diego State to wait for their new coach to be working on the Aztecs and not the Cardinals. Plus, from a Ball State perspective, you are preparing to close out the greatest season in the history of your school and you don’t want to end it with two straight losses. Wouldn’t you want a coach who will be 100% focused on Ball State and on beating Tulsa, not on getting things organized for his new job? [...]

Oh, and I forgot Hawaii from the WAC which gets to play Notre Dame at Aloha Stadium. So that's five teams from WAC in bowl games but the undefeated champion of the league only gets to play TCU (which used to be in the WAC) in the Poinsettia Bowl. Wow!!

i still can't figure out how all this works. how can a team that was beaten by another team finish ahead of that team. OU lost to UT fair and square at a neutral site. i realize OU is an awesome team, but come on.... Yes, OU massacred Texas Tech who beat UT. But any team can beat any other team on a given day. Look at kansas beating Missouri. It's all about matchups and OU matched up better against Tech than Texas did. But you still can't take away the fact that OU was beaten by Texas in a heads up match.

Now for the undefeateds. Utah got a good bowl bid in the Sugar vs. Alabama. But poor blue Boise State. Boy, the WAC gets no love. Fresno State, Nevada and La Tech also got bids from that conference and Boise State didn't get a much better bid than the others even though they went undefeated. Doesn't make sense. Would have liked to see Boise State playing Texas Tech in the Cotton Bowl at least. THAT would be a game!!
