I see your point, Whales. We vary in mentality and it seems fair that you stick to your one team one sport system. I have moved around and switched teams here and there. I can’t apologize for my allegiances. I won’t apologize. Just like I’ve never asked you to explain your secret love of Michigan football, as an alumni of Boston College.

Other W. I don’t even feel like even acknowledging you with your sports history, blindly claiming the Patriots as the greatest team ever and consistently doubting BC athletics does not make you a better sports fan.
As for the hair and music….well at least I have some taste in music. Compared to a man who mixes the most obnoxious tunes he can find (usually techno and dated country) into one terrible mix then forces bystanders to endure. For 4 years.

I understand you are bitter because you have a teaching degree…or some other miserable proof that you graduated college, but I believe you lose all credibility as a sports when I read this.

To PapaBear, as they call me on the streets, I grew up loving 1 team in each sport on each level. Those teams will always be my favorite, regardless of where I live. To a real sports fan, all this article says is that your favorite team is whatever hat looks coolest on your large head. Im sure if there were Rays fans who would watch them if they started playing awful again (there are not), they would be disgusted by your “I like the team that plays in the city I live in attitude”.

People may say that Red Sox fans are irritating and handsome, but at least we can say that we only like our Redsox and not the Brewers this year because they got CC Sabathia.

Sean, please start writing articles that deal with growing long hair, hippy music, and greatful dead t-shirts and not sports.

Yea Yea whatever, you just keep touring the country and rooting for the local ball club. I’ve met cats that are more loyal than you. Now that you have so kindly pointed out my true identity, I might as well confirm that you, “Kaner”, did much more than clap during the Red Sox World Series run. If I hadn’t known any better I would have guessed you grew up in Glouchester or Summahville. Now you’re pulling the same old scam in Chicago. Listen bud, I admire your love of the game mentality but at some point you should probably stop adding and dropping favorite ball clubs like you’re managing a fantasy roster.

Digging for an excuse to hate the redsox bandwagon? Now you’re coming after me for growing up a Rays fan…What are you a Yankees fan? Get a life. These posts are not a game of Clue, Sherlock. No one needs you to crack the code and call someone out on. Especially not on what hats I own.
Listen, pal, I love baseball. It’s not like I didn’t watch the Red Sox run in 04 and I’m not gonna lie, I clapped. Gotta have something to get excited about and it’s nice to follow a local team. Same for the White Sox, when you that’s the team covered where you are it’s easy to like the local squad.
Sorry if I offended your diehard sensibilities. I’ll be sure to repent and throw batteries at Francona next time. When I need a moral compass I’ll call you, Honeywell. Until then, enjoy the ride.

So let me get this straight, you’re a Rays fan who has lived in Chicago for the past 2 years and in Boston before that. Correct me if I’m wrong but that would put you in Boston for the 2004 season when the Sox ended the 86 year drought. Judging by how quickly you “became comfortable” rooting for the White Sox, I’m thinking you ditched your lowly Rays back in ‘04 and made yourself comfortable on the Red Sox band wagon. In fact, I’d be willing to bet a substantial amount that if I went through your hat collection I would find a Red Sox hat. W

Last night’s loss was tough to swallow, but I’m definitely pulling for the Rays now. Other than Grant Balfour they have a lot of likable players on their team. Getting rid of problem children like Delmon Young and Elijah Dukes was good for them, and probably helped accelerate BJ Upton’s growth and maturity.

And you gotta love Joe Maddon.
