(For the latest on Kellen Winslow’s current spat with Browns’ management, visit the Cleveland Browns news page or read the post specifically regarding Kellen Winslow being upset, and Romeo Crennel’s reaction.)
(UPDATE — Sunday, 10/12, 11:45am: Adam Schefter is now reporting that Kellen Winslow will not play Monday night against the New York Giants, and that despite reports of Kellen suffering from “man swelling”, the nature of his hospitalization is being kept even from many team employees and has not been confirmed publicly. As you read this post, make no mistake: while we are attempting to make light of the situation somewhat, especially with the picture to the left, we are also explicitly attempting to show our support for K2, who we believe is the best tight end in the NFL and an absolutely indispensable part of the Cleveland Browns’ offense. Get better soon Kellen; for your own sake, and for that of the Browns’ chances to turn their 2008 season around.)
I am about to run out for the afternoon, but I wanted to offer up a quick Kellen Winslow update before I go. We wrote a post here at Midwest Sports Fans a day ago discussing the mysterious illness that has placed K2′s availability in doubt for Monday night’s matchup against the Giants. (We also discussed Corey Williams’ ridiculous comments about the Giants, and I have not softened my stance on that at all.)
Anyway, Kellen apparently had to spend the night at the hospital and is receiving antibiotic treatment for swelling in his nether region. While the Browns have not confirmed what exactly the condition is that has placed Kellen Winslow in the hospital, league sources have apparently informed ProFootballTalk that Winslow’s hospital visit has been due to hydrocele. (And, of course, we should treat everything reported at ProFootballTalk as the gospel, because they are never wrong.)
Regardless of what the truth is regarding Kellen Winslow’s current condition and his availability for Monday night’s game, one thing is for sure: hydrocele or not, Kellen Winslow has proven that he has huge balls (as the picture above, taken during Kellen’s time at the U, and that may or may not have been doctored using Photoshop, confirms). Kellen Winslow has also proven that he is a soldier. And the Cleveland Browns have proven so far this season that they are not in sync offensively. With perhaps their toughest test of the season impending against the Giants on Monday, the Browns certainly need a healthy Kellen Winslow, along with his huge balls, winning attitude, and tremendous athletic ability, to have their best chance to win.
Get well soon Kellen; for your own sake, and for the future of the Browns’ season.
