KVB...I just talked to Lloyd Carr and John Cooper and they'd both appreciate it if you would stop using the word "loser" in reference to college football coaches. Thanks.

Colt McCoy is definitely my front runner as well. Even if Texas drops one of those games, he will still win it. His stats are incredible. Took him 3 years to develop (probably because he didn't lift weights in high school) but he is pretty amazing with his arm and legs this year. Maybe Mack Brown is not a loser without Vince Young.

It's sad, I know. It's funny to see people here get behind the Indiana football team. A few years ago that place had weeds growing in section 12, now people are acting like they've been behind them for years. Kellen Lewis is a decent quarterback, but I was only joking about his Heisman candidacy. He lost a huge weapon in James Hardy to the draft, and he has not had the same kind of year without him.

My favorite for the Heisman has got to be Colt McCoy. He has thrown for 1500 yards, 17 TDs with only 3 INTs, and completed an amazing 79.4% of his passes. He also leads the team in rushing with 348 yards and 4 scores. They have a strong schedule as well, including a stretch starting with last week's game against Oklahoma where they play 5 of 6 games against opponents ranked in the top 25 (4 of them in the top 11). If Texas finishes out undefeated, no one will mean more to the #1 team in the nation than Colt McCoy.

I want to type a coherent reply, but I can't stop laughing at the notion of Kellen "I Think I'm a Superstar But I Forget That I Play Football For Indiana" Lewis as a Heisman candidate.

What a waste.

This has easily been the most fun I've had reading comments on this site. I got an education: dirt squirrel, dickjauron, and learning that you don't have to be good to be considered for a Heisman. I will say this though: Tiller's offense has produced two pretty decent quarterbacks in the past decade. Drew Brees is one of the best in the biz and Kyle Orton is having a pretty good year as well. Could Painter be a product of a system?? Oh no, I said it. I have always hated it when average quarterbacks have been given Heisman consideration only to be shot down because they are "products of systems". But in previous years, Colt Brennan, Chase Daniels, and Kliff King-"Dingle"-bury have actually had decent numbers to stand behind. Painter doesn't even have that! And if you check ESPN.com, Painter's QB rating puts him at 91st in the nation. That's 36 spots behind my favorite for Heisman, Kellen Lewis. Oh yeah!

Thanks for the comment Nate Dizzle. It's amazing how truly overhyped Painter is. He's no better than Rick Trefzger, he just plays in a passing attack and has racked up stats because he has sucked less than the other choices Purdue has had at QB. Luckily, it looks like the Heisman campaign has pretty much ended, what with Purdue sucking again and all.

I hate Curtis Painter and think he is the most overrated quarterback in the country. His success in life will probably match his success on the field. That doesn't bode well for his future. The word mediocre contains too many letters to waste on this guy. I can't wait until he is gone (or gets benched). This makes me dream of the days when Brandon Kircsh was behind center.

Curtis painter sucks my anus hole!

Kevin...I think you need to write a BCS blog with the season fast approaching.

Maybe we could get an interview with Kirk Herbstriet...if he hadn't been kidnapped.

Gerlacher, you are right he didn't apply to the Painter discussion. Thanks for opening up some BCS blog time now...

Hawaii made a BCS bowl game because the BCS is flawed to allow a shitty Hawaii team who beat nobody/everybody for an at-large selection. Not to mention adding the "BCS Championship Game" opening up the at-large spots.

No strength of schedule? How is that not a factor? They say humans factor it in their polls but they only rank who lost the earliest in the season. The early end to tOSU's season helped us make the #2 spot because everyone else choked and lost their first/second games of the season the weeks following the smack down in Ann Arbor.

Post Blog Factoid! Beanie's 222 rushing yards against Michigan was the Ohio State school record for The Game.

KVB...at leat Brennan got to a BCS championship bowl game. He got raped by an underrated Georgia team...but he did win games.

J-rod...Beanie should win the Heisman. I'm so sick of Tim Tebow. He will be forgotten when Terrelle Pryor starts for the next three years and creates the SAT analogy

Pryor is to Tebow as
Oreo is to Hydrox

Well you returned the favor...the term dirt-squirrel just had me in stitches. What, did you think I was just shooting from the hip on the stupid mustache correlation? How could a player exhibit the kind of confident play necessary to win a Heisman Trophy when he looks over at the sidelines and sees his coach with a goofy sellingly above his lip. (Sellingly, of course, is another term for a mustache created by a little love-making between the names Selleck and Mattingly...two of the greatest mustachioed men in world history.)

P.S. Maybe if Beckman hadn't choked in OSU's biggest games last year I would spell Boeckmann's name correctly. Until then, Tod Boeckman and his dumb name can kiss my behind.

P.S.S. Is there any way Beanie Wells doesn't win the Heisman this year, barring injury? I don't think so. Clown Tebow and his jump-passes aren't winning it again.

Nice Post, Jay Rod. Your "Matt Painter or Curtis Jackson" thing had me in stitches.

Anyway, I have been trying to find the "last player to play for a coach with a stupid mustache to win the Heisman", and have been going nowhere for over an hour. After the first forty-five minutes of nothing, it bacame an obsession. I looked EVERYWHERE for a picture of Lou Holtz, Jack Pardee, John Mackovic, or LaVell Edwards with a dirt-squirrel above their lip, but found nothing.

The closest thing I could find was in 2003 when the aforementioned future Hall of Famer (and current salesman) Jason White won his Heisman bid. Some reciever named Larry Fitgerald from Pittsburgh(must be Irish) finished a close second in the votes, but Dave MustacheStedt wasn't named head coach until the following season.

It appears that you have stumbled on to something. Apparently, playing for a coach with a stupid mustache nullifies ones chances of winning the Heisman Trophy. Sucks to be you, Todd Reesing & Aqib Talib.

p.s.

You spelled Boeckman wrong.

Haha...Kliff Kingsbury. Who spells Cliff with K? That's like spelling Bertolini with an e at the end. Ridiculous.

And don't shortchange Steve Bellisari. He was incredible. Though not as good as Rick Trefzger or Justin Zwick.
