The Beijing Olympics have ended, not to resurface again until they are held in London in 2012. Apparently, there is one 6’5, 230 lb quarterback with a laser, rocket arm who thinks that the London Games should feature his sport:
If you agree with Peyton Manning, go sign the petition they started over at WePlay.com. I think that as exciting as the thought of football in the Olympics is, simply for the fact that it would mean more football, there is absolutely no way it is ever happening.
Not enough countries play football right now and the NFL is only in the infant stages of its global marketing campaign. Plus, the risk of injury is far too great for the NFL to ever get on board and let its players play, and the NFL gets pretty much whatever it wants. I honestly think the only possible way it could happen is if high school football players played…because college football is pretty powerful in its own right and if University presidents won’t make money on it, they won’t even consider it.
What do you think? Should football be an Olympic sport? Is it even possible?
