@JRod, No bragging here... classy reply. If we make the playoffs or not, I do think this team (ravens)is only going to get better next year. Harbaugh will get rid of a few undisciplined head cases, left over from the Billick days and pickup that big receiver from draft or FA the team needs.

@Ray Lewis 52, I stand wholeheartedly corrected. Joe Flacco has been 10 times better than Derek Anderson this year and Baltimore beat the Browns twice. The roles could very easily be reversed next season (as they were last year -- the NFL is crazy like that) but you have the bragging rights this year. Brag away.

I would just like to state, for the record, that I am ashamed and embarrased to have written this article. Like many Browns fans, I drank the kool-aid of the 10-6 season and somehow allowed that to blind me from objective, reasonable analysis. While much of what I said in this post was tongue-in-cheek and admittedly Browns-centric, re-reading it makes me wonder if I temporarly lost the function of my brain.

I stood up for Derek Anderson and for the Browns, laying my credibility on the line, and they repaid me by shoving a bottle of 5 hour energy up ass like a suppository. At least that's what the 2008 season has figuratively felt like.

I wrote this post thinking it would be my big I-Told-You-So at the end of the season. Not so much. Joe Flacco has been awesome for a rookie, and Big Ben is the QB of the first place team. Can't argue Derek Anderson over him now. Carson Palmer? Well, he's still a flaming hot dog deep throater.

Not a good year for football in Ohio (no comebacks necessary MNRC - I already know what you're going to say.)

Ha Ha so Baltimore does not even get a consideration huh? Flacco is, in his rookie year, as good as any QBs in the north... and he is only going to get better

I think it's hilarious that I made this post completely tongue-in-cheek and it has generated this kind of response. Look, I thought D.A. would play better this year, but no one in their right mind could say he's better than Roethlisberger yet. I don't particularly like Roethlisberger, but he's a really good QB and been very successful to this point in his career.

I think D.A. can and will turn it around and recapture some of rhythm he had with his WRs last season, but he has a long way to go to enter any kind of serious debate with Roethlisberger.

However, I am quite glad that you have proven to be so defensive on the subject because it has generated some lively and entertaining commenting. My question is when are you going to step up and write a post about the Steelers that we can publish here at Midwest Sports Fans. You've done lots of commenting on others' posts...why not put one out there of your own???

Hey Jerod buddy, you caught this one yet? I figured since it just came out yesterday I'd revisit the ol' North QB thread. Enjoy!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's official: Big Ben one of the best
Cold, Hard Football Facts for September 30, 2008

Big Ben is one of the all-time leaders in two of the most important stats in football.

And now it’s official.

The NFL requires that quarterbacks attempt a minimum 1,500 passes to qualify for official league records. Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger entered Monday night’s 23-20 overtime victory against Baltimore with 1,495 attempts.

He tossed 24 passes against the Ravens, along the way topping the 1,500-attempt-mark needed to receive the good-pigskinkeeping seal of approval. His career stat line now looks like this:
961 of 1,519 (63.3%), 12,311 yards, 8.10 YPA, 88 TDs, 56 INTs, and a 92.52 passer rating
Roethlisberger has been a Cold, Hard Football Facts favorite since he exploded onto the scene as a rookie in 2004, leading Pittsburgh to a 15-1 record and a spot in the AFC title game, and then winning a Super Bowl with the Steelers in his sophomore season.

After all, you don’t win consistently in the NFL without strong play at quarterback. So when the Steelers were suddenly winning in historic fashion (the 2004 Steelers are one of the few teams in history to win 15 games), the natural place to turn for answers was the passing game.

And it turned out that Roethlisberger’s historic string of victories in his first two years was accompanied by historic passing efficiency numbers – especially for such a young player.

Now in his fifth year, Roethlisberger officially enters the record books and finds himself among some of the very best passers in the history of the game. If he can repeat his first four-plus years in the league over the next four-plus season, he’s a bona fide first ballot Hall of Famer.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wow -- Hall of Fame talk already? I mean what, the dude's like 26 or something.

But hey, I'm sure they'll be saying the same things about D.A. soon enough. Right?

Much needed reality check,

You are a pussy who wont reveal who you are. I don't know about you, but I would much rather hang out in the grotto at the Playboy Mansion with my lame band than sit behind the counter of a gas station listening to Jim Rome all day.

Your "smack" is as lame as your team; and your internet research skills are as creepy and weird as you are. Go get laid, man. I know you are ugly, because you are from Pittsburgh. Want me to loan you some money so you can get a nice piece of ass? Let me know. Anyway, I have to go catch a first class flight across the country. Time to get paid to get drunk.

Much needed reality check,

Talk as much shit as possible before the season starts, because the Steelers will be lucky to beat out Baltimore for 3rd place in the division. Nobody outside of Pukesburgh thinks that Big Gay Ben is carrying that douche-squad into the playoffs.

I dare you to come back to this site after week 9 when the Steelers are 2-6 or 3-5.

Dont get me wrong. Ben is a pretty decent quarterback (he WAS raised in O-H-I-O, for gods sake), but he is no Derek Anderson.

If you grow up in Ohio, play high school and college football there, then two things have to be true:

1) You get pretty decent at the QB position

and

2) YOU HATE THE FUCKING STEELERS

Pittsburgh is a white-trash city with a brown-collar mentality. Bill Cowher is ugly, talks funny, and learned everything he knew from his time as a Browns assitannt coach.

I kinda like Tomlin. Too bad he will NEVER get a ring. So sad.
